2023
On May 1 , 2023, a small aircraft carrying seven people that have mother and her four Indigenous children, adult co-pilot/passenger and an adult pilot crashed in the dense Amazon rainforest of Columbia.
The three adults did not survive, and the children - aged 11 month old (infant), 4, 9 and 13 - were left alone in one of the most remote and challenging environments on the Earth.

HOW THEY SURVIVED

After 40 days, the Colombian children were found alive during a search and rescue operation in the Amazon rainforest. Their survival in the Colombian Amazon became one of the most remarkable aspects of the rescue. They were found in the Amazon rainforest of Southern Colombia, near the Caqueta department, after an intensive search and rescue operation by local authorities, with the help of indigenous communities and helicopters. They were weak, hungry and dehydrated but alive. The team immediately provided medical care, food and safety and the children were later reunited with their family.
